About me

A few key facts

Hi, I'm Justus Bergermann

Welcome to my website!

I am a Master’s student in Computer Science at TU Dortmund and IT Security / Networks & Systems at Ruhr University Bochum, and a Research Assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy. My academic interests lie in (post-quantum) cryptography, embedded systems, human–machine interaction, and human-centric security.

I value continuous learning and interdisciplinary exploration, and I enjoy engaging with both theoretical foundations and practical implementations. Alongside my Computer Science degree, I chose to pursue a second Master’s in IT Security to complement broad systems knowledge with specialized expertise in security and privacy. Through my academic and research activities, I have gained experience in cryptographic engineering, embedded development, and applied HCI, and I particularly enjoy bridging abstract concepts with real-world systems.

Beyond my academic work, I have been involved in social engagement such as volunteer firefighting and church youth work, experiences that have shaped my sense of responsibility and collaboration. I am also a scholarship holder of Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst. These perspectives influence how I approach research, emphasizing not only technical rigor but also societal impact.

TL;DR: I am driven by curiosity, motivated by meaningful challenges, and interested in developing secure and privacy-aware technologies with responsibility.
